Metso Recycling's trade press release on May 7, 2012
Today Metso is introducing the next generation of scrap shears. The Eta®Cut II replaces the first generation Eta®Cut renowned for its high production capacity and reliability. In addition to the key features of the first Eta®Cut generation the new machine comes with a number of innovations: new Human Machine Interface (HMI), new transport design and ergonomic control cabin. The redesigned hydraulic concept allows higher energy efficiency and productivity per installed kW.
The name Eta®Cut incorporates the Greek letter η (eta), the technical symbol for efficiency which illustrates the extremely high effectiveness and low life-cycle costs of the Eta product lines. These are reflected in increased processing flexibility, low specific power consumption, enhanced operational reliability and reduced maintenance costs due to the service friendly design.
Since 2002 over 130 first-generation Eta®Cut scrap shears have been sold worldwide and have set standards in efficient scrap shearing right from the start. Making maximum use of the shearing force and installed driving power, with features such as overstroke, non-contact position measuring systems and supporting table, the Eta®Cut operates efficiently and saves energy.
The shear has been completely redesigned. Latest computer designs and simulations have been used to improve the rigidity of components, ensuring a longer service life and a modern visual image.
“The Eta®Cut has defined completely new standards in the scrap industry since its release in 2002. The Eta®Cut II offers innovative adjustments of the EtaCut first-generation features to suit the customers’ and users’ needs, so we strongly believe that the market will welcome this concept”, says Uffe Hansen, VP Sales & Marketing.
In terms of improving usability the next-generation Eta®Cut II is equipped with a completely new Human Machine Interface (HMI), the state of the art electric control also allows for the integration of future online service applications and machine data collection. The user-friendly and intuitive to operate touch screen, recipient of the IF design award, will soon be a standard application for all new Lindemann machines. The new control cabin with angled glass fronts and ergonomic operator chair with integrated control elements also contributes towards workplace optimization.
“We have combined field experience and customer needs with our research and development to once again set the benchmark in the shear market”, adds Daniel Zeiler, VP Shears & Balers.
The innovative hydraulic concept of the Eta®Cut II combines the latest 400 bar high-pressure hydraulic technology with a compact design of one manifold block to create an outstanding energy efficient solution. In addition the new shear generates potential savings in transport costs due to the new partitioning of the press box resulting in reduced transport dimensions as well as simplified installation.
